Saratoga Really is THE August Place to Be!

For those of us who have lived and worked in the upstate NY region for, shall I say, a long time, we know that Saratoga is truly the August place to be!

That slogan, coined back in the 1980’s, is truer than ever. Whether you’re a visitor to the region, a new home owner, or a lifelong resident of our beautiful city and surrounding region, there is always something new and exciting to do here, in addition to the signature events and venues that have made our city world-famous.

Both the historic thoroughbred racetrack and the Saratoga Performing Arts Center are in full swing. The famous Fasig-Tipton yearling sales are in progress, the Philadelphia Orchestra is drawing classical music-lovers to the sloping lawn, and Gun Runner – a thoroughbred to watch – just beat out last year’s Travers winner, Keen Ice, and earned a spot at the storied Breeders’ Cup in November.

And, don’t forget Saratoga Polo! Whether you pack a picnic and watch from the far side, or you enjoy a glass of bubbly at the clubhouse, everyone heads out to the field to stomp the divots while the horses and riders take a much-needed break!

We also have amazing museums, galleries and eclectic pockets of great music and art that dot the downtown Saratoga map. The Museum of Dance, Arthur Zankel Music Center, the Spring Street Gallery all have are just some of the names that come to mind.

This year also marks the 100th birthday of Man o’ War, and the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame is marking the event with a beautiful exhibit of one of the most legendary racehorses of all time.

Wining and dining in downtown has never been better, with longtime favorites like Sperry’s and Pennell’s, as well as more recent arrivals on the scene, such as Salt & Char in the Van Dam, 15 Church, and a very new arrival – Ronnie & Ralphies on Phila Street.

And, if you’re trying to figure out how to safely and responsibly navigate between SPAC, the track and all the local nightspots, galas and parties, upstate New Yorkers finally have Uber and Lyft to get us everywhere we want to go!

Of course, while you’re strolling around town, be sure to stop by our beautiful office at 376 Broadway, in the heart of downtown Saratoga. You’ll see a collection of our latest listings on our wide screen TV and you can pop inside for a quick chat or to set up an appointment to see some homes. Whether you already live in the region and you’re looking to go upscale or downsize, or you’re a visitor who’s finally decided to buy your Saratoga Springs dream home, give me a call or send me an email. I have been helping buyers and sellers throughout the Capital Region for more than a dozen years and I can help you!
